A real gem within our restaurant group. Locally renowned for its friendly, family atmosphere and amenable attitude towards children, Conti continues to win friends with its no-nonsense, great-value Italian food. Inside it's open-plan, with the kitchen in full view, and during the summer there's the bonus of a grassy back garden for drinks and a terrace for al fresco dining.

Pizzas are a mainstay of the menu (choose a 9-incher or a 12-inch monster) and there's a handy 'make-your-own' option for kids between 5pm and 6.30pm (and Sundays 12pm -6.30pm). Pasta dishes also show up well: look for rigatoni with strips of beef in tomato and pesto sauce or panzerotti parcels with porcini mushrooms in a creamy sauce.

Added to this is a big choice of starters ranging from homemade sausages with borlotti beans to mussels in white wine, dill and saffron sauce, plus more substantial dishes including grilled duck breast in port and cranberry sauce, grilled lamb cutlets with red wine and balsamic herb sauce, and daily fish specials.
